So. Wassup reader? How are you during this pandemic?

I know. It’s a hard time. But if you’re still doing okay, then let me help you on your way to writing a goooood engaging scene.

Scene butter my people.

Scene buttterrr!

What’s that?

Very rarely do we have ONE person in a scene my themselves. But most often than not we only outline for ONE person in a scene.

But what about other characters? They have intentions too. Watch closely how I create a scene…

Location- Cafe Moonbun

POV: First person present via Mathilda

Mathilda (Main Scene Character): Mathilda intends to walk in and break up with her ex boyfriend OFFICIALLY, but learns he isn’t willing to let her go or take the charm he gave her,

Aldo: He intends to propose to Mathilda when he sees her walk in, but learns she wants to break up, so not only does he refuse to take the charm he gave her back, he tells her he still loves her and lies about his detective partner having a girlfriend already (just to hurt her)

(even side characters can have scene intentions)

Cafe worker: Intends to deliver the iced strawberry lemonade Aldo ordered, but learns his marriage proposel didn’t pan out after Mathida accidentally rams into them on the way out (Mathilda is in shock rn ya’ll)

— — — — — —

So thats how I plan out my overall scenes. Of course its First person so the last bit about the Cafe worker won’t be necessarily seen but you see how I now can plan Mathilda getting heartbroken and in shock and running into the cafe worker, spilling that delicious tea. Annnnnd maybe set up the next scene ❤

Scene butter is when u give every character in the scene and intention but have it DISTURBED with a revelation of some sort, THEN show how they respond//react to it.

This is not a set in stone system, tweak it to your specifications and add that extra gooey fatness on top!

More writing deliciousness coming up next post!
